Laundry by the river in Bainet

In the old days of Bainet, Saturday’s are the typical days where most family load up their laundries and head down to the neaby rivers to do laundry.

On the days of the laundry, mothers usually bring the younger kids with them, along with pots, cooking oil & food supply to cook for the day near the river. Neighbors would set up the river trip to go as a group, so they can all help each other. Once in the river, they would assign individual duties, such as the girls responsible for cooking, washing & rinsing clothes while the little boys job would be to fetch for fire sticks to light up the fire.

The ladies wash clothes and lay them out to dry on the river pebbles stones.

While kids are playing games & bathing in the nearby pool of water they just built..

Those who can afford it, such as a middle class peasant, usually hires a laundry lady to go do their laundries.

After an all day affair of washing, cooking & kids playing, the group of families/ neighbors would finish up the laundry day by eating lunch together. Then, they would all have a splash party in the water, bathing and relaxing in the water while making time for their laundries to dry.

Once all the clothes are dry, the group of people would pack up everything and head back to their house, and call it a day.
